My alma mater, Ferris HS, may have struggled on the field in football and basketball this year, but their JV Show Cheer squad just won Nationals, and the Varsity came in second in their division.

The Stop Tahoe Update project worked as advertised. Planning to use it on all of the Open Core Sequoia installations in the house over the next few days.

I'm excited about For All Mankind Season 5, but I think I'm actually more hyped for Star City, the Soviet perspective spinoff that's coming in May.

It's pretty handy to be able to use Gemini to come up with a quick regex pattern when I need one.

Found a github project devoted to disabling Tahoe updates via configuration profile. Going to try it on a couple of home machines tonight.

Looks like Tubi is going to be featuring a new Gonzaga Basketball documentary premiering on March 6. Haven't been following this season particularly closely, but looking forward to watching tha documentary.

Mary's under the weather with a pretty bad cold that I think I've been dealing with all week as well, just minus the bad cough. Pretty sure some of my coworkers are also dealing with similar colds right now as well. It's that time of year.

macOS Tahoe getting rightly savaged in the Six Colors Apple in 2025 community feedback.

Paradise S2E1: Graceland 👍👍 Banger start to season 2 with some interesting new survivors and a cool setup for the resumption of Xavier's storyline.

Spurs Women beat the London City Lionesses on penalties in the round of 16 for the Women's FA Cup. Could't find a US broadcast unfortunately.

Our Ford Expedition breakdown journey is nearly complete. Traded the vehicle for a check this morning, deposited the money this afternoon, and now Mary just has to pay off the outrageous diagnostic fee (unfortunately it's more than the value we got for it 😐) at the dealer, and we can close this chapter.

Had to directly call the wrecking company to find out why I never heard anything from them today, despite my scheduled pickup. Apparently, their Peddle app was down, and that means they just blow appointments off, and expect us to figure things out. So annoyed, but hopefully rescheduled for Monday.

Not loving a stuffy nose, slight sinus headache, and raw throat at the moment. But at the same time could be a lot worse.

Paradise season 2 coming out almost exactly one year after season 1 is welcome news in the streaming era we live in.

Car pickup and transfer is fully set up and scheduled for Friday. What a relief. Peddle.com made the whole transaction process really easy.

Seahawks are going up for sale as per the conditions of Paul Allen's estate. They're valued at close to $10 billion so very curious to see who ends up buying them. Mind boggling that they were purchased for only $194 million in 1997.

Packed up my work keyboard and trackpad and forgot my M4 Mini at home. Always love discovering that when I'm about to start my work day! Fortunately I have a backup Mac mini here at my desk.

Just saw the trailer for Rental Family starring Brendan Fraser on Hulu and now I want to watch this movie as soon as possible.

My Hero Academia has the best twist in season 6.

Two fairly notable public figures passed away in the last couple of days. Robert Duvall yesterday at age 94, and Jesse Jackson today at 84. I didn't realize that Duvall had played Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird until I went back through his full filmography.

Tired and contemplating a nap, but not planning to actually take one. Might get some coffee, though.

Played a lot of Minecraft this weekend, mainly focusing on the giant cavern north of my base. Found out it connects to the mine that's a part of the big cavern north of my base and primary shaft.

Ate a bunch of delicious barbecued steak at the in-laws tonight. I didn't go crazy or anything, but I did go back for seconds with a smaller slice after finishing my first helping.

As of today, I've written at least 750 words a day, every day, for a full 365 days. Based on my 803 words average since 2010 I think I logged about 292K words total last year.

For the first time ever, Mary and I gave each other same Valentines Card. The inside joke was too good for either of us to pass up, and it's a very cute and fun card!

We're not going to get much salvage value for our Expedition, but dealing with the closest wrecking yard in our area was so annoying. Had to wait on hold for several minutes, and then the guy wanted me to make an opening offer to start negotiations and of course my opening ask was well outside the going rate.

Testing some more macOS updates this morning since 15.7.4 came out yesterday. That means I've also got a bunch to do at home as well.

Looks like we're shopping for a new (used) car, too many things wrong with Mary's car to pursue further repairs. That money needs to go to a replacement.

Just learned that Jame Van Der Beek has succumbed to the colorectal cancer he had been fighting since 2024. I never watched any of his shows and movies, but I was very aware of him as an actor and pop culture figure. I'm sad that almost exactly 25 years later, his cancer outcome ended up being similar to my dad's.

They finally fired Thomas Frank, but it feels like they probably left him in place too long as Spurs are 5 points above relegation.

Incredibly disappointing 1-2 loss to a clearly vulnerable Newcastle. Thomas Frank is simply a terrible fit for Tottenham.

I didn't realize the Patriots Quarterback, Drake Maye, was the MVP runner up. The Seahawks defense made him look really subpar through three quarters.

The Seahawks are Super Bowl champions for the second time ever thanks to a dominating defensive performance that looks closer at 29-13 than it actually was!

I find the Gruescript system pretty impressive. I'm surprised it hasn't gained more popularity.

Feeling pretty sleepy this afternoon since I've been up since 4:30 am. Need to get in a run before the Super Bowl as well even if I'm doing it solo.

I didn't realize that the Seahawks first and second round picks the year Cooper Kupp was drafted in the third round by the Rams were basically complete flame-outs. Wild how these things work out.

I want Michael Carrick to keep winning and put United in a lose-lose scenario come summer. Whoever has to guide them through Europe and multiple competitions next season while living up to this one, whether it's him or a new guy, has a much tougher job.

Found a really good series of caverns tonight and got a ton of redstone, diamonds, and iron.

One of the best things about working from home on Fridays is that Sterling, our cat, likes to hang out in my office and nap on the spare director's chair I keep in here.

It's pretty gross and unhelpful seeing conspiracy posts on Bluesky trying to connect Nancy Guthrie's abduction to Trump.

Confirmed Gemini actually has a pretty good understanding of Gruescript today. I have a little IF project that I'm going to try, and I wouldn't mind some code example support on it as I learn the system.

Enjoyed Fallout Season Two quite a bit, hopefully we'll get Season Three by Summer of 27.

Brandon Sanderson is a charming dude. I've alway intended to watch his free science fiction writing lecture series, and his recent production deal with Apple TV+ inspired me to start watching the 2025 edition today.

Realized tonight that there's only one game left in the local high school basketball regular season. Mostly ambivalent.

I'm nowhere near retirement age, but I've worked at GU long enough to qualify for the voluntary separation incentive program that they're starting in February because of financial headwinds.

I didn't start watching Wonder Man today thinking I would binge the whole thing. But I enjoyed the heck out of it so much that I finished it tonight!

Some wild outcomes in Texas special elections tonight!

Ike's been great since I got annoyed, the key point being he started using his full repertoire of offensive skills.

Ike is killing me and the Zags with his contested isolation misses. Thankfully, Innocenti is providing a lesson in clutch right now!
